I have worked in travel for over 25 years and I am still passionate about visiting new places and discovering new cultures. I love the way that cruising allows me to discover locations I may want to return to and explore in more depth.

My favourite destination

My favourite destination is the South Pacific, I've always imagined the South Pacific to be scattered with beautiful islands of towering green volcanic peaks, white sandy beaches and crystal clear lagoons.

After visiting for the first time I'm delighted to say it lived up to all those expectations, with the added bonus of wonderfully friendly and warm-hearted people. The scenery was amazing and we stopped frequently for those who wanted to snorkel and see the fish in the clear waters. We were also lucky enough so spot whales in the distance, their tails crashing in the water. There were plenty of activities including beach volleyball, badminton, snorkelling and kayaks - I went kayaking for the first time, under the watchful eyes of the watersports and diving team.

My top cruising tip

My top tip is to make sure you have a supply of any physical currency for the destinations you are visiting.

Often ships only carry a small quantity and ATMs are not always easily available in every port of call.

Best non-cruise holiday: I love Bermuda and have visited twice, such a laidback and wonderful island!

Interesting fact about yourself: I was the youngest Mayoress of the London Borough of Ealing 1980/81
