Voyage Itinerary

Before you board

One night in São Paulo

Fly to São Paulo where you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel for a one-night stay. The following day, tranafer to the airport for your flight to Belem where your Amazon expedition begins.

11 April

Brazil: Belém

Belém lies about 60 miles from the Atlantic coast on the Pará river, part of the vast Amazon delta, and the bustling food markets here are piled high with the bountiful produce of the rainforest. As well as a gateway to the Amazon, Belém is an appealing destination in its own right, with an attractive colonial centre and an imposing fortress.

12 April to 14 April - At sea

15 April

Brazil: Alter do Chão

The laid back riverside village of Alter do Chão is sometimes known as the ‘Caribbean of the Amazon’ thanks to its white sand beaches, clear waters and chilled out vibe. Beyond the beach the main activities are exploring the surrounding rainforest and shopping for local handicrafts.
Alter do Chao, Brazil

16 April

Brazil: Parintins

The little island town of Parintins is famous for its annual Boi Bumbá festival, the biggest folk celebration in Brazil after Rio Carnival. Cruise ship visitors are usually met by Bumbá dancers at the port, and it’s a great place to get a feel for everyday life in the Amazon region.

17 April to 18 April - At sea

19 April to 20 April

Brazil: Manaus

Manaus is a remarkable place, a sweltering, steamy city in the heart of the Brazilian rainforest. Situated near the confluence of the Rio Negro and Amazon rivers, surrounded by thick jungle, the city is a major port in spite of its location some 1,000 miles from the sea.

21 April to 28 April - At sea

29 April

Peru: Iquitos

Iquitos was founded by Jesuit missionaries in the 18th century, and grew rich on the back of the rubber trade. Nowadays it’s a bustling hub for trips into the untamed Peruvian Amazon in search of wildlife, featuring not just on river cruise itineraries but also ocean cruises for those ships small enough to sail this far upriver.

Before you return

One night in Lima

Disembark in Iquitos and transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima where you will enjoy an overnight hotel stay. The following day, join your flight back to the UK.

How can we help?

Our frequently asked questions

From expedition tips to travel protection, here are some of our most-asked questions.

visit our faqs

Can you help with pre and post-cruise arrangements?

Absolutely. Expedition cruises often start and end in remote destinations, and we're able to arrange everything from flights and transfers to hotels and tours. If you're keen to make the most of your time away with bespoke arrangements, we can help with all your travel needs to make sure your trip is exceptional. What's more, we are members of ABTA and we offer full ATOL protection, not to mention a 24-hour emergency contact, to give you complete peace of mind.

Will I save by booking with Mundy Adventures?

You'll save money and time by booking with us rather than directly with the cruise line, as well as enjoying more flexibility in your travel arrangements. We have access to preferential rates and exclusive offers, and we offer expert advice on how to get the best value.

How much time is spent ashore?

Itineraries are planned to deliver an unforgettable experience of the destination, so days are filled with landings ashore via the ship's fleet of Zodiacs (sturdy rubber boats) or exploration along the coastline. It will vary depending on itinerary and operators, so it's best to contact us to discuss but rest assured an expedition cruise is focused on the time you spend off the ship.
