The city of Thunder Bay sits on the northern shore of Lake Superior, first settled by Europeans in the 17th century when the French established a fur trading post here. Toronto is the fourth largest city in North America, a dynamic and culturally rich metropolis that hugs the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario. A busy calendar of events includes the famous Toronto International Film Festival in September, and the city boasts some excellent museums and galleries. Toronto is also just two hours from Niagara Falls, and serves as a jumping off point for cruises around the Great Lakes.
