Chilean Fjords & Patagonia expedition cruises - Magellanic penguin in Punta Arenas

Chilean Fjords & Patagonia expedition cruises

Divided by the extraordinary Andean mountains, Patagonia’s east (Argentine) side is a land of rolling plains, grasslands and deserts, whilst the west coast is a web of intricate fjords, straits and inlets. The backdrop to both, the jagged peaks of the mountains, is cut through by dramatic glaciers and lakes.

Our insight

Exploring the Chilean Fjords and Patagonia

This is a very special region to visit, but not without its challenges. Poor roads mean limited accessibility, and exploring by sea is an excellent option, particularly to visit the breathtaking Chilean Fjords and the extraordinary straits of Magellan.

Whilst in the region there are so many options from which to choose; whether you want to explore briefly before setting forth on a cruise to the Antarctic, or instead to create a more in depth land and sea combination.

Wildlife could be your interest: there is much to see, and you need to time your visit if you particularly want to see the Southern Right Whales at Puerto Madryn, for example, or the huge colonies of Magellanic penguins during breeding season.

Many like to hike or horse ride in the wilderness, and Patagonia has no shortage of regions where this is possible, from the beautiful Lakes District around Bariloche to the magnificent national parks to the south.

Whatever you choose, planning the best itineraries, on land or at sea, needs the best advice and guidance, and that is exactly where Mundy Adventures comes in…
