Voyage Itinerary

4 October

Setting sail from Montréal

Bilingual Montréal is Québec's largest city, a vibrant island metropolis with a distinctive blend of old style European charm and thrusting modernity. Architectural highlights include the beautiful Basilique Notre-Dame-de-Montréal, and the city also boasts the world's third largest botanical garden. Winters here can be harsh, but in summer the city comes alive with festivals, including the famous International Jazz Festival in June/July. Montréal is also a real Mecca for foodies, and can pose a serious threat to the waistline, with all manner of gastronomic treats on offer.

Our tip

Visit Old Montréal for a wander, but it’s very overpriced so plan to eat or shop elsewhere.

Canada: Québec City

Québec City, the capital of French-speaking Canada, is one of the North American continent’s most beguiling cities. The pretty old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a joy to behold; the cobbled streets and church spires are enclosed within the old city walls, and many of the buildings date back to the 17th century

Canada: Tadoussac

Tadoussac is situated at the meeting of the St Lawrence and Saguenay rivers, and is famous as one of the best whale-watching spots in Québec. Species including fin, minke, beluga and blue whales are drawn here by the bountiful supply of krill where the salt and freshwater meet.

Canada: Percé

Percé is situated near the tip of the Gaspé Peninsula, one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Canadian Maritimes and a whale watching hotspot. Highlights include Forillon National Park, home to wildlife including moose and bears, and Bonaventure Island, where you’ll find one of the world’s biggest gannet colonies.

10 October

Canada: Louisbourg

The picturesque town of Louisbourg, on the Atlantic coast of Cape Breton island, was the main port for the French colony of Île-Royale, named after King Louis XIV. The beautifully restored 18th-century Fortress of Louisbourg, which twice fell to the British, is one of Canada’s most important historical sites.

11 October

Canada: Halifax

The natural harbour at Halifax is the second largest in the world after Sydney, and this charming city has a proud maritime heritage. Take a stroll along the historic waterfront, delve into the vibrant arts scene or explore the beautiful coastal scenery of Nova Scotia.

United States: Boston

Boston is one of the oldest cities in the USA, and in amongst the skyscrapers are plenty of red-brick buildings, a Georgian architecture that lends the city a distinctly European feel. Boston is also home to a wealth of cultural riches, including the superb Museum of Fine Arts, as well as the world famous Harvard University.

15 October

United States: Martha's Vineyard

Just seven miles off the coast of Cape Cod, the island of Martha’s Vineyard is a world apart from the mainland, with no chain restaurants or motels in sight. A-listers and other well-to-do types have their summer boltholes here, attracted by the Vineyard’s arty vibe, pretty beaches, rolling hills and friendly locals.

Tailor-make your trip

Ways to make it better
    • Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth, Montréal

      Extend your stay in Montréal

There are plenty of hotels to choose from but our favourite is the Fairmont.

    • Stop sign in Montréal

      Making the most of Montréal

You don’t need to take a private tour in Montréal, the city is completely manageable and although signs are in French, everyone speaks English.

    • The Plaza Hotel, New York

Stay a few more nights in New York

There are just so many hotels to choose from, but we recommend The Plaza Hotel on Fifth Avenue next to Central Park.

    • Helicopter over New York

      See New York in style

Take to the air on a helicopter sightseeing trip of Manhattan Island, the best way to see the city’s skyline.

    How can we help?

    Our frequently asked questions

From expedition tips to travel protection, here are some of our most-asked questions.

    visit our faqs

Can you help with pre and post-cruise arrangements?

Absolutely. Expedition cruises often start and end in remote destinations, and we're able to arrange everything from flights and transfers to hotels and tours. If you're keen to make the most of your time away with bespoke arrangements, we can help with all your travel needs to make sure your trip is exceptional. What's more, we are members of ABTA and we offer full ATOL protection, not to mention a 24-hour emergency contact, to give you complete peace of mind.

Will I save by booking with Mundy Adventures?

You'll save money and time by booking with us rather than directly with the cruise line, as well as enjoying more flexibility in your travel arrangements. We have access to preferential rates and exclusive offers, and we offer expert advice on how to get the best value.

How much time is spent ashore?

Itineraries are planned to deliver an unforgettable experience of the destination, so days are filled with landings ashore via the ship's fleet of Zodiacs (sturdy rubber boats) or exploration along the coastline. It will vary depending on itinerary and operators, so it's best to contact us to discuss but rest assured an expedition cruise is focused on the time you spend off the ship.
