29 January
Setting sail from La Paz
La Paz feels more authentically Mexican than most of the other large cities in Baja California, though at the same time it's a cosmopolitan and sophisticated place. It's also a gateway to the fantastic marine life of the Sea of Cortez, famously described by Jacques Cousteau as 'the world's aquarium'.

30 January - 1 February
Mexico: Gulf of California Biosphere Reserve, Bahia Agua Verde, Isla San Francisco
2 February
Mexico: Magdalena Bay

Situated on the west coast of the Baja California peninsula, Magdalena Bay is sheltered from the Pacific by islands just off the coast, and the calm waters provide the perfect conditions for the gray whales that mate and give birth here between January and March.
3 February
Mexico: Los Islotes

The little islands known as Los Islotes, at the southern end of the Sea of Cortez, are home to a famously friendly group of sea lions. Here you can swim and snorkel with these playful creatures; the youngsters are particularly endearing.
3 February
Mexico: Isla Partida
4 February
Mexico: Isla Espíritu Santo

The uninhabited island of Espíritu Santo is one of the highlights of the Sea of Cortez, a pristine landscape of pink cliffs and sandy beaches. The rich seas surrounding the island are home to whales, dolphins and sea lions, and you can expect to see birdlife including pelicans and frigate birds.

What we love

There is also an EZ Dock launch platform that makes it easier to use this equipment. Although most of your time is likely to be spent outside there is a charming dining room and cosy library, and all rooms have a view from their window.
