Voyage Itinerary

21 August

Setting sail from Milwaukee (Chicago)

Chicago, the 'Windy City', is a spectacular open-air museum of modern architecture, scattered with striking skyscrapers and sculptures by the likes of Frank Gehry, Anish Kapoor and Frank Lloyd Wright. The city is known for its fantastic food, vibrant nightlife and sports-mad locals, plus cultural attractions including the Field Museum and the Adler Planetarium. Chicago's soaring skyline is best appreciated by boat from Lake Michigan, and this is a great place to begin or end a cruise around the Great Lakes.

United States: Mackinac Island

The charming, car-free Mackinac Island is situated on the straits between Lake Huron and Lake Michigan, and played a key role in the Great Lakes fur trade. The island was the site of several battles between the British and Americans, and is home to some elegant Victorian-style architecture.

United States: Sault Ste. Marie

Sault Ste. Marie is one of the oldest cities in the USA, and is separated from its Canadian sister city of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario by the St Marys river. The city is famous for its locks, which date back over 160 years and allow ships to travel between Lake Superior and the lower Great Lakes.

Canada: Little Current

Little Current is the main town on Manitoulin Island, the largest freshwater island in the world, which sits at the northern end of Lake Huron. The town is connected to the mainland by the unique Swing Bridge, built in 1913, and the main activities here include hiking and horse-riding around the island.

How can we help?

Our frequently asked questions

From expedition tips to travel protection, here are some of our most-asked questions.

visit our faqs

Can you help with pre and post-cruise arrangements?

Absolutely. Expedition cruises often start and end in remote destinations, and we're able to arrange everything from flights and transfers to hotels and tours. If you're keen to make the most of your time away with bespoke arrangements, we can help with all your travel needs to make sure your trip is exceptional. What's more, we are members of ABTA and we offer full ATOL protection, not to mention a 24-hour emergency contact, to give you complete peace of mind.

Will I save by booking with Mundy Adventures?

You'll save money and time by booking with us rather than directly with the cruise line, as well as enjoying more flexibility in your travel arrangements. We have access to preferential rates and exclusive offers, and we offer expert advice on how to get the best value.

How much time is spent ashore?

Itineraries are planned to deliver an unforgettable experience of the destination, so days are filled with landings ashore via the ship's fleet of Zodiacs (sturdy rubber boats) or exploration along the coastline. It will vary depending on itinerary and operators, so it's best to contact us to discuss but rest assured an expedition cruise is focused on the time you spend off the ship.
