The Mekong, the longest river in South East Asia, is navigable in Cambodia and Vietnam, and on some vessels into Laos, and offers a glimpse of the diverse cultures and history of these very different countries.
A Mekong River cruise enables the exploration of the little known region between the ancient Khmer city of Angkor, one of the greatest Buddhist sites in South East Asia, and the elegant former French colonial city of Saigon, (Ho Chi Minh City), with its memories of the Vietnam War.
The Mekong River is one of the most bio-diverse in the world, with a huge number of plant species, mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians.
APT River Cruises offer a luxury cruise and tour option enabling you to cruise the Mekong and see the spectacular Angkor Wat.

It is best to visit in the winter months. The weather is still hot, but there is significantly less humidity. It is also out of the monsoon which comes between late April and October and means most days are subject to short sharp downpours.
The weather is hot and humid during these months so light cotton clothing, sun cream and a sun hat are essential. A visa is required for entry into both Vietnam and Cambodia. Do ensure you have sufficient pages in your passport.
