Crystal Endeavor: The world's first polar class mega-yacht

The dizzying expansion of Crystal Cruises continues apace, with the announcement earlier this month of a new polar class expedition mega-yacht, Crystal Endeavor.

Scheduled to launch in August 2018, Crystal Endeavor will accommodate just 200 guests in 100 sumptuous suites, and will be the world's first pupose-built Polar Code compliant yacht, able to cruise in the polar regions during the summer and autumn.

Crystal's award-winning approach to luxury hospitality will be complemented by a staggering array of onboard tech, including two helicopters, two 7-person submarines, eight zodiacs, jet skis and SEABOB underwater scooters. What's more, a state-of-the-art dynamic positioning system will allow Endeavor to float directly above coral reefs and other marine life without the need for an anchor, and to explore iconic shipwrecks such as the Titanic using an ROV (remote operated vehicle).

As well as the Arctic and Antarctic, Crystal Endeavor will offer innovative expedition itineraries along the coasts of Europe and the Americas, and will travel to remote islands in the Atlantic and Pacific that would not be accessible on a larger ship. On board you'll be able to enjoy an indoor and outdoor Jacuzzi, an infinity pool, and a spa and gym with sauna and steam room.

The entrance of Crystal into the expedition cruise market is hugely exciting news, and no doubt there is more to come from this extraordinarily ambitious company - watch this space!
